It might add a few seconds to the bootup and shutdown process as it checks floppy drives for boot virii. I use Norton Antivirus 5.0, but many people recommend using both NAV5 and AVP 3.0 for complete protection. Personally I think thats just overkill. Nathan 04-13-1999, 07:41 AM I have found some AV programs really cause havoc on your system. But in all fairness to it, the systems weren't in tip top shape to begin with either. I have noticed sometimes they do slow the system down a little too. Dominus 04-13-1999, 09:08 AM I suppose it depends on your system in the first place. AV software might kill a P133, but if your running a higher end system, you probably won't notice it. Jav 04-13-1999, 11:17 AM Some programs create a HUGE performance hit...Especially a component in Norton Antivirus called autoprotect. With its default settings, it scans every file going in and out of memory, including files coming in over modem or network. Slows down systems considerably SysOpt.com
