Wifey brought home an "extra" UPS from work(bless her heart), and I cannot find any info on it. It is an Opti-UPS model 280E with (2)110v plugs on it. I already have a surge protector with rocker switches for the peripherals. Can anyone help me with specs, battery back-up features, installation, etc.? UPS's arent in my vocabulary, but it looks good to have with my gaming server. Thanks!

Opti-ups are a middle of the road ups system. It should work out fine your system at home. The 280 should last with your box and monitor plugged into (nothing else) about 8-10 min's average at full load. I am currently looking for the Opti Website finally got it...my web server here at work was giving me fits! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif You can get all the info on that unit from http://www.optiups.com you have the 280ES model (as that is the only 280 they have! so it must be that one! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif)

Thanks Mtnsnow! I d/l'd the software for it. It only has 2 110V jacks, where they require you to plug in the CPU and the monitor. I use a 6-jack surge protector (flat panel under monitor-kind) that has specific slots for each peripheral. Wondering how I'm going to integrate this? I like the switch convenience, but I'd like the back-up power as well. Guess I can't have my cake and eat it too, huh? Thanks!

You can use the "powerstrip"..just plug it into one of the outlets..just remember that when you have a powerstrip pluged in with all the other perfs you will be draining more power from the UPS when it is running on the battery...Thus you will have a shorter run time.
