I am wondering if it would be okay for me to use some generic PC 100 ram with my celeron, or should I buy the good stuff?. I have 128 Megs PC100 now. and wondering if I should spend the extra money or if I will be fine with geberic. I don't even now if this ram will even see 100 MHZ fsb. Let alone go over it. 1% chance 04 but I should be fine with generic at 104 right? So should I be okay?

I have been reading and hearing about hoe 2000 needs ram. Not that it doesn't use it will but that it just needs alittle more?
Am I right? I was thinking about getting another 128 megs for a total of 256 for when I get 2000.

I'm using generic PC100 at a 100mhz fsb and at the fsb speed in a CT-5AGM2 (VIA MVP3) and I've had no problems. Runs at 66, 68, 75, 83, 95 and 100 no problem. If it don't work, bring it back.

mt generic pc100 that i got from chipsmart is running at 124 fsb and has been for about 4 months. no problems except when i try to go to 133. i would tend to think that if it is ran at less than 100mhz you would be ok. i think the problem comes in when you get over 100hmz.

Most Generic Ram is always good for its speed rating, or leese but tends to be eratic if you overclock, save quite a bit if you are not planning to overclock or upgrade to a faste bus soon, but even then with the price of ram the way it is at the moment, you'll sell it on with ease any way if you have to go to faster sticks.
