My system has been locking up when I'm on the internet most sites and after varies times on-line.
I recently re-installed win98/2ed w/GDisk onto a Athlon 700 w/a Matxor 40G 5400rpm HD/128 MB SDRAM (also just added another 128 MB chip but problem had existed before addition)/32MG ATI Fury Pro AGP card/52x CD-ROM.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help.

When you did the reinstall did you just fdisk and format? I have gotten to the point where I use the hard drive mfg's low level format and over write the drive. Then do the fdisk and format.
I have seen a few times where a format didn't seam to remove all of the old data. Then you get a bad install.
Now what flavor of IE are you running? I use 5.0. I had problems on 5.5 with win98. Do you have all the udates installed? Do you have directx 8.?
Have you run system file checker? If not run it in safe mode. Repair any files it jumps up on. (copy your windows cd to your hard drive. You will not have a cd-rom in safe mode). Have you run the direct X troubleshooter also? You also might want to run the IE repair tool also. See if it can fix it self.
This sould keep you busy for a while. Let us know if any of this helps.

Check that your modem drivers are current too.
