K7 700 on the way!

I just ordered a K7 700 w/MSI 6167 motherboard. Also ordered a Maxtor 27.2GB 7200RPM hard drive and a 3D Annihilator Pro. I'm a little skeptical if it will work alright.

I want to know if I'll have any problems with this new setup. I know I'll have to use the Athlon Geforce drivers. I have an Enlight 7237 case that came with a 300W PS. I'll be using my 256MB PC100 Micron memory on the new motherboard and hope it works. Would the Geforce still be faster than my V770 Ultra at 1x? I also have a V2 SLI. I don't overclock.
I hope I wasn't better off buying a P3 700.

By the way after I get my new setup working I'm selling my P3 450, Abit BH6, V770 Ultra, WD 6.4GB HD, and my old midtower ATX case.

Some of the answer will depend on what operating system you run on the system. So - which is it?

Also, I get a bit nervous aroung huge drives and partitioning them. I prefer several smaller drives myself, but that's just me.
I have a phobia of losing one whole huge drive to a mechanical failure and having to start over from a 100% loss..... I've done it on two smaller drives and can't imagine a 27 GB loss. - scares me.
