Dear sir/madam,

I have just been given a Mitsumi 4x ide cdrom drive which I will be using with an old 486 pc. The problem is that the drive door does not open when I press the eject button. To open the drawer, I have to press the eject button and then thump the top of the pc case. Please can you tell me why I should experience this problem with the drive and how I remedy it?

Help appreciated.

It might have some dust inside or anything else that prevents the door from opening, try looking inside and clean if possible, maybe with some air pressure.

Or there could be a sprung spring in there, which lets go properly with the thumping.
