The story is a bit long, I hope I get it right.

First PROBLEM was today after attempting to hook up a Sandisk SmartMedia Parallel port card reader.

Got blue screens galore, never worked, gave up and put it on another with NO problems,,,
There IS another Sandisk CF USB reader software already installed, but the reader was NOT hooked up.

Then I had NO mouse shown, keyboard wouldn't work either.

After a couple of boots, the keyboard finally started working, PART TIME.

Still NO CURSOR, tried 2 PS/2 mice and 1 USB, no go.

But, yesterday, I stuck a "Un-Do" floppy in the drive that came from the Win95 fiasco and got a Virus warning.

Something about a "Stealth" virus on the floppy.

I have PC Cillin with the most recent updates done, installed on this machine.

Using the up & down keys on the board, I disabled the sys.ini from starting and now have a mouse.

But, the video has gone haywire, I had to reinstall the VooDoo 3-2000 PCI drivers EVERY TIME I BOOT

On re-boot, the screen is pale and won't let me adjust to 800x600 at more than 256 colors.

so, is it Stealth Virus or screwy drivers from the Sandisk card reader,, I hope the latter.

Download the cleaner and run it. It sould find out if anything is one there. It is about 2/3's of the way down the page. It is share ware. Thirty day trail.

Thanks, but the Cleaner did not find any trojans.

It searched 21,490 files, I did the update also to make sure to get the most recent.

Does the paste of my system.ini files look ODD ?

Yes it looks a little odd to me. But what line is it in on your ini file. I'll look in mine to see if its close to the same. I have win98-- my girl has win988se on hers.

Doc, I have been thru a lot of Win.ini and Sys.ini...and I have NEVER seen anything like that before. Probably not a virus, but could be from the install.

BTW, I keep a current copy of my Win & Sys.ini as a notepad text file. If anything screwy happens, I delete whats there, and paste back the last version that was working.

Doc, search C:\windows for a backup, System.syd, System.bak, (NOT System.dat or System.dao!). View the backup w/Notepad to make sure it's not corrupted. Then just rename System.ini to System.old, & the backup to System.ini. Reboot.

Have you tried doing a search for system.* and see what that brings up you should have a backup copy in the windows folder if not try doing a scanreg /restore and roll it back a couple of days I saw the same thing about a week ago at a customers house the scanreg did the trick ..
