I decided not to go for the AMD K6-2 400MHz after going to the website ENVY gave me. So I decided to make PII 400MHz.
What's a good motherboard for it?
Is the Intel 440BX AGP anygood?

Glad to see you opted for the PII.

Don't go for the Intel MB. If tinkering with the Bios is something you may do.

Stay away from Abit right now. Half of their boards out on the market are flakey. Just view the number of posts (abit mb related problems) at this site's forum alone. Not to mention the countless of others.

Try A-Open, Tyan or SuperMicro instead. Even AMI if price is not much of a concern. If your in the market for a power supply, definetly go with PC Power and Cooling. The best power supplies around. Unless you get a custom made transformer/powersupply combo for a rackmount case. Otherwise stick with PC P&C.

Any of the BX boards from the makers above are nice. Look to their sites for the specific features you want in a MB. Can't go wrong choosing any of their models.

I agree with most of what Bleeding Edge said, but in all fairness to Abit it should be noted that there are a lot of posts about Abit boards because both here, and at Anandtech, there are many people using Abit motherboards and a lot of those people are overclocking their CPUs (which in itself can cause problems) and probably half of those people don't exactly know what they are doing.

I believe te Abit BX6 to be a very good choice as a motherboard and worthy of your consideration.

I don't disagree with CM. My reply may sound a bit forceful against Abit. It just makes me wonder.
