Ok. here's a weird one. I installed a external burner (usb) on by bosses 5190, after I had installed the cd software (Adaptec cd creator 3 and the other one) I lost my modem. It only come up with new device found "PCI serial controller". I don't have drivers for that. I read the Compaq faq's and they state that they are included with the modem drivers, but they are not.
Can anyone help me resolve this delema or do I need the format and do a quick restore?

I have realized this problem is software related and have fixed it and now the modem works again, but if I reinstall the burning software, all the prob return. I guess it means that the modem is software driven and has a conflict with the adaptec burning software, I think it has something to do with virtual device drivers.
Is there a way to fix this? I don't want to replace the modem (too much hassel)
Or should I just return the burner and foget about the whole thing?
