The hardware-monitoring program that came with my new Epox G2 says the +12V line consistently peaks at 12.707V, which is waaaaay too high. Is this a problem with the power supply or with a part on the mobo?

Also, what are the symptoms of an inadequate power supply? I've got a 250W now for my K6-III, CD-ROM, and hard drive, but I plan on getting an Athlon this summer, a CD-RW and Orb at some point, and possibly an additional hard drive. Is 250W enough for this, or should I go with a 300W?

If you plan on getting an Athlon in the near future, spring the $60 for a 300 watt PS. The system you have now will run better, and the Athlon will NEED it.

Sorry about this but what is a orb?

ORB is similar to a Jazz or ZIP drive, or one of the Syquest drives. It allows you to use cartridges for data storage. I believe it is capable of capacities at 1gig or greater.

Pretty neat units actually.

The Orb removable drive from Castlewood. Drive is $200, 2.2 GB cartridges are $40. Very fast data transfer rate. Released last summer. I'm waiting to see how reliable the media turns out to be.

Will a .18-micron Athlon be happy with a 250W power supply?
