First of all, I would like to let everyone know that I am back from my holiday vacation and am looking forward to spending the usual time on the forum here. I hope everyone had a nice Christmas and New Year. My question is about Norton Ghost. I used it once a long time ago to copy the data on an old hd to a new one. I have heard it has a lot more features than that so here is what I am wondering if it will do. I want to "ghost" a complete backup of my 13.5 gig hd. Only about half of it is full. Can I burn this backup across several cdrs? or to anonther machine on network? And then how would I restore it? Is this a reliable method?

WEll, I tried to use GHOST 5.1 to span across several cd's once. Here's the deal...

I have 25G's. I needed a image of 13G's of data. The ghost comes out to about 2.4G's in my case. GHOST 5.1 will not span into preset file sizes, but it will span across several drive letters. Knowing this I partitioned a 3G drive into 6 640M partitions.

It spanned perfectly across 4 of the partitions and on the 5th one, lost it's spanning chain (that was the actual error).

If you'r ghost final image can be small enough, prob less than 2G, it might work.
