I changed out the sound card, deleted the old drivers and installed the new drivers and now it takes up to 4 to five minutes to boot up. I had this problem once last year and someone told me to copy system files or to something. I can't remember exactly what it was but it fix the problem. Maybe someone can tell me what it is I need to do here.
thanks

Please post detailed specs of your computer. This may be resources conflict of sound card with another hardware. Check for yellow "!" marks in Device Manager.

the computer is pentium 3, win 98, sound card creative, and there is no yellow marks in the device manager. I just discovered when I take the card out, it boots up a little faster but still slow. The drivers did get installed ok(maybe that is why no yellow marks). I'll try another sound card and if the problem is there.

I asked detailed specs, i.e. soundcard, videocard, NIC, modem, etc ... cause the problem can be between your soundcard and other card in the computer.
And what Creative card do you have ? Tried downloading latest drivers from the Net ?
