Ptrper 01-02-2000, 12:49 AM Hey, kinda had the same problem with Rainbow 6:Rogue Spear. Is there a movie like sequence before the game starts? If so, you may have to go into the config of the game and shut off the movies that are in the game. Try and see if that works. Ptrper daveleau 01-02-2000, 08:34 AM I am having a similar problem with Heavy Gear 2. Make sure you have all of your hardware drivers updated and the newest DirectX (7.0A). If it is an EA game then run the icon that looks like a set of gears that is named IP and it will telly ou some of the problems. Dave Eli 01-02-2000, 11:00 AM You might also try disabling anything in your sys tray that you don't need. My brother couldn't run Army Men on his system until I gave it a little tune-up. I had to, I bought him that game for Christmas. lol [This message has been edited by Eli (edited 01-02-2000).] U-96 01-04-2000, 03:16 AM General advice for games that don't run http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Check the publisher/developer for a patch. Almost every game in existence has one. Also while you are there, check for FAQs and forums. That should clear up 80%+ of problems. Email their Tech Support if you can't find a solution. That's what they are there for - just be polite and have the information they need handy. If 10,000 people mention the same problem, you'll be surprised how quickly a patch can come out. (Re-)Install DX7. You could try going back to 6.1 if you think that is the culprit, but you'll need a special DX7 remover. Check for new drivers. Video card, sound card, CDROM. Also check that your current ones are installed correctly. Old classic DOS games can be tricky to get running in Win9x. Persevere. If all that doesn't work, you're probably trying to run Rogue Spear on a 286, aren't you? Minimum specs on game boxes are optimistic. Always consider a halfway point between stated minimum and recommended specs to be the system you need to run the game with all options on. If it says P133 minimum and recommends P300+ with a 16MB video card, anything less than a P200 is going to crawl. U-96 SysOpt.com
