Hi i want to apply a bios update which turns my HTP366 raid controller into a raid controller. It is onboard on my Abit BE6. To update the htp366 i need to update my complete bios. but if it screws up can i use the method described on your site to restore it(http://www.sysopt.com/articles/recoverbios/index.html)
thanks

Hey Barry,
Why don't you just register? Is this what you're asking: Abit has made available a BIOS update which will turn the on-board HTP366 ATA EIDE controller into a Raid controller and that if you attempt to flash the BIOS and the flash attempt fails for some reason, will the method outlined in a recent article on this site save your ****? That's a good question. I'll have to read it and see. Actually, the only way it could really screw up is if you lost power in the middle of the flash or you flashed with the wrong .bin file which is a longshot.

The bios flash is not made by abit the bios flash is made buy someone who just made it to make it. the version i have i have flashed and it has worked. but the problem is that it flashes my htp366 to a iwill ata66raid, which also requires modified drivers.
The author of the bios has made these drivers but they are only for win98 not win2k and they are also unstable in win98. I was going to use a program i have to replace the htp366 part of the bin file for my bios update with the htp368(raid) and apply it so that i wont have to use modified drivers.. just the htp368(raid) drivers.
But if something goes wrong i wanna be able to restore it. the thing i am worrried about it that it is onboard, and i cannot disable it, and the htp366 controller screen is the first thing that comes up after my computer posts, so if it is screwed then i dont see how i will restore it but was wondering if someone with more experience might have an idea. will the restore method bypass everything go strait to the disk and restore the bios?
