Engagement rings, black caviar and now pc memory. It seems like the smallest things in life are the most expensive ones. I remember getting a Corsair 128mb PC100 stick for $125 and thinking it was expensive... a week ago I had to shell out $180 for the same product thinking I got a "good" price.
Seems like almost every pc hardware component is evolving and slowly becomes less expensive but pc100 memory doesn't seem to be following the rules. For one its an "inferior" product (pc133) so the prices should be dropping even faster, but I guess with demand for pc100 still huge seeing how pc133 is still very expensive and with recent earthquakes in Taiwan... its understandable that prices wouldn't fall and maybe even rise a little but not THIS much! Also every one is telling me that the production levels for pc100 are being lowered and/or even nonexistent today and that just doesn't make sense to me.

I was wondering how you guys cope with this "problem"? Do you solder together pieces of pc66 sticks or sell blood or ...?

Well I guess I'll go back to selling cook..errr hardware door to door. (now there's an idea!)

Serge,
While I agree that RAM should cost less I am missing the steal or deal aspect of your post. My guess is that socalgal will close your thread before the day ends.

I just bought a 128M stick of PC133, cost $131.00

I just used pricewatch.com

PC 100 is much less than that also.

BBA.. Corsair... the most stable memory I've seen. Sure you can get unknown oem stuff for much less.

Serge, apparently your thread in PC Steals and Deals was moved to this forum. The Steals and Deals forum is exclusively for great deals found online, in stores, etc.

Apologies for the absence of a note in the closed thread, and any confusion this may have caused.
