Help. I have been having the freeze problem with my sb platinum live 5.1 sound card.
Ok this is what i have done so far. Changed pci slots, re-installed windows, forced pci slot with another irq. so on , now i find that altering the resource I/O range i can get the card quite stable. but when i open various apps ( depending on what i/o range i select) it freezes once again. Is this what the problem is memory conflicts , and has any one found the cure. also could the multi-media interface be at fault ( not tried changing anythin there yet)

Do you using mobo with VIA chipset ? Are you aware of the issue between Live! cards and VIA 686B southbridge ?
Post more of your system specs, and check here (http://www.viahardware.com/faq/kt7/kt7faq.htm) for possible solutions if you're using VIA mobo.

Best Regards ...

The the most frequent cause of lockups with the Live series is the DOS drivers. They are not required for any games that run through Windows, so they can usually be removed or disabled. To disable them, go into Device Manager, look under Creative Miscellaneous Devices and disable the SB 16 Emulation. Then, go into autoexec.bat and config.sys and remove any references to soundblaster (like set blaster =.....). Save the edited files, then reboot. This might solve your problem - it has for lots of other folks.
