Price are ALWAYS coming down. If you're waiting for a point at which prices have come down all they're gonna, then you'll be waiting forever. You just gotta close your eyes and jump in.

The trick is to buy in the "sweet spot" of the market. And never buy the top of the line. Check out current prices on the Athlon CPU:

Athlon/750mhz $820
Athlon/700mhz $650
Athlon/650mhz $463
Athlon/600mhz $375
Athlon/550mhz $247
Athlon/500mhz $173

I'd say a system with 500mhz Athlon could be a very attractive deal, maybe you could go a little faster if you wanna shell out the money. But a system with a 700mhz or 750mhz Athlon is bound to be a rip-off.

Here's a tip for after-holiday retail shoppers.
RETURNS

Every year CompUSA & others get so loaded with these that they start "dumping" them.
Several times CompUSA in particular has priced them according to CPU speed no matter what else is included

Bought an HP there a couple years ago for parts. Got the bonus plan - it worked fine & still does. Bad part was I still had to buy the parts elsewhere...
