I have had frequent (operation fron 2 min to 2 hrs) (apparently heat related) lock ups with 2 different MSI 6195 (K7 Pro) MB's. I have changed power supplies, cases, video, cpu and memory. All components work fine with 2 ASUS K7M MB's. Motherboard monitor shows nothing particularly out of whack. The max CPU temp sensed has been 45 degrees C. Is it possible that the on-board heat sensors of these MB's is positioned wrong. The cpu's (600 & 960) have both been monitored on the ASUS MB's with no problems. Memory checks okay. If I open the case and aim an external fan directly onto the cpu it tends to extend the time before lock up. This happens rendering video or playing Myst 3.

I have no hair left - I hope someone can help.

I understand Rogaine can help with the hair.

Well, if everything works ok in the ASUS board but not in the MSI one, you have your answer. There may be an incompatibility with these boards.

I suggest not pulling your hair out but go with the path of least resistance - use the ASUS board and forget about it. It may not be worth the hours of time required to diagnose this.
