Well I was attempting to flash the bios when I got an ERROR. Here's the info:
(from a DOS boot disk, new bios and flash utility on disk)

A:\>AMINF325.EXE
DOS/4G Protected Mode Run-Time Version 2.01a
Copyright(c)Tenberry Software,Inc 1996
*Chipset Type - ALi M1621/1543
*Flash Part - PMC 29F002T_V1
*ERROR 2 - File does not exist
A:\>

The last 2 lines were RED. I rebooted and alls well again.Perhaps the downloaded files were missing parts? I was hoping for a request to back up the existing bios not an ERROR. The mobo is Pcchips 726mrt ver1.2a with bios 9/19/2000. I was updating to 2k1106s.rom . The new bios and flash utility were both from the mobo website/same page. I notice the flash prog may be newer than the one which is on my install CD that came with the mobo, eg, AMINF325-vs-AMINF321. Could the old Flash prog still work installing the new bios? Any advise is welcomed.

I've never seen an ami bios, but could the flash program need command line parameters? Like the name of the bios you want to flash?.
the line would go something like 'amiflash.exe mynewebios.bin' etc =)
Try 'amiflash.exe /?' or readme.

Thanks Muno, your advice was good . Seems my DOS was so rusty I had to dig up the 'DOS for Dummies' manual. Its just been a long time since I flashed a BIOS. BTW, AMI uses .rom extentions. Command line was
A:\AMIFLASH_NEWBIOS.ROM , would you beleive I actually typed in the underscore key instead of the space bar.LOL!All went well.THANKS
