I tried to upgrade within windows, then tried to boot off the cd and it still detects that I need the upgrade. All I want to do is load this version over my exsisting copy. Any way to do it?

Or copy the file from th cd to your hdd the run setup.exe from there. This should work. Target 01-01-2000, 11:36 PM Better yet...... use a boot diskette, and boot your pc. Then rename win.com to win.bak (or some other suitable alternative) Then copy the contents of the win98 directory from the cd to your c:\windows\options\cabs directory. Then run setup.exe from that directory on your hard-disk, and the new version of win98 will install right over the top of the other one. It will even keep all your shortcuts and programs intact. richamies 01-01-2000, 11:43 PM The last time I had to do this it was 98 release 1 over W95, I had to rename win.com explorer.exe and win.ini I think, it then went straight over and kept all the settings from W95 SysOpt.com
