I Have lost my USB ports on my computer . are they software or hardware ?What can I do to get them back.

the actual USB ports are hardware. Do they show up in your system devices?

Have you recently changed anything? The USB ports are either hardwired to your MOBO or they are plugged in. Check the plug. They are enabled in the BIOS and must have an IRQ enabled. Look for any conflicts in the system properties and resolve them.

What exactly did you do that led you to this situation? BIOS upgrade perhaps - did you change some settings in the BIOS? When you are sure that USB is enabled in the BIOS run the Add New Hardware Wizard and see if they are detected by Windows.

I found the problem some how they were turned off in the bios thanks for the help.
