Something I didn't think about until I read it..
Windows 98 Startup Disk
Microsoft recommends updating the Windows 98 Startup disk after installing the Windows 98 Year 2000 Update. To update your Windows 98 Startup disk after installing the update, follow these steps:
Click Start, point to Programs, and then click MS-DOS Prompt.
Insert your Windows 98 Startup disk in drive A.
At the command prompt, type "sys a:" (without quotation marks), and then press ENTER. You should see a message that says "System transferred."
If you did not create a Windows 98 Startup disk during the installation of Windows 98, see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Yes i wanted to know if or how could i tell if my windows has the 2000 update in it? Because i tried download those ones here
But is says this update was not designed for you version of windows.
I got win98se. Is that already updated? Because i run this y2k test program i pass all test except for the one about system rollover and it says if i would like to fix it you must but the program. http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10106-100-1489485.html?tag=st.dl.10001_103_1.lst.titledetail
I think personally the program is fake just for them to make money.

The way I determined Win2000 update was installed was by going to Windows Update, Products Update, then hitting Show Installed Updates.
But, I have noticed that (some?) updates installed via other than the Products Update page won't show as installed, i.e., if patches were installed via Security Bulletins they are not shown as installed in the Windows Update/Show Installed list. I suppose if you have saved your downloaded update/patches, you can find check from there.
Another thing when running my Y2K tests, a certain system test (don't remember the name) failed, but when I went to Control Panel, Regional Settings and changed the 'short date' style to mm/dd/yyyy, then it did pass.. maybe that is your case, xtremsabu. You can double check to make sure in win.ini.
EDIT Re: the immediately preceeding paragraph, see BBA's post here http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/003227.html

xtremsabu & deep_sky : According to this, (http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/guide/Win98/MoreInfo/SEFactSheet.asp) '98SE already has the update incorporated in it.

Go to "system tools" then 'System information
click on "software enviornment" then "software updates" and open up all windows 98
boxes. this will tell you all updates installed on your computer. If you don't have what need go to Windows updates or specific
patch site.

This is in 98SE only I take it? On my Win98SE Software Updates is listed.
On my Win98 4.10.1998 w/all updates-patches, there is no Software Updates listing.

Thanks Socalgal,
I just updated both of mine. Figure that if I need them, I got enough things to worry about already! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
