Freewwweb is free too without any banners. There is also one by AltaVista too I think and its banner is said to be smaller than NetZero's. If you have problems with freewwweb like I did at first, it may be b/c they didn't refresh the installation passcode. If you have problem I'll give you mine (they use a universal code so it's not illegal) Happy hunting-

BTW- Freewwweb uses the same access phone #s as MSN, Freei uses the same access phone #s as Prodigy. Both MSN and Prodigy have been saturated with users by giving the $400 coupons at Best Buy so they are only going to get slower. Thus Freewwweb and Freei are going to be slow unless they change their servers to independant ones. I did not recognize Net Zero's #s and haven't looked at AV so...

shaggy2dope, there is a way that you can use freewwweb without having to download their 20 MB copy of netscape. Go here (http://www.freewwweb.com/pricing/pricmain.html), and right at the bottom of the page, it give you a link for people that already have a browser installed. It then gives you the instructions as to what to do to sign up; you just set up a DUN connection for it with username@freewwweb.com as your username and your password in the password box, set up the DNS and phone number as given by Freewwweb, and you're all set to go!

I'm also sold on Freewwweb. No banner, no disconnects and access number where I live. Busy signals sometimes are a bother but I'll live with it and use my current $$$ISP until I get 2 way cable modem in my area.

My plans exactly, buzzmag. But I think it's going to be DSL rather than 2-way. 2-way is available in my area, but I think I'm going to get DSL when it comes out. It's only a couple months away, and I'm extremely close to the local phone switch. I'll keep freewwweb no matter what, though, as a backup for the high-speed connection I choose.
