Hey all, this is kind of a follow up to another topic I had up here concerning the recognition of a CD-RW. Yeah, its not seen by Windows and someone suggested reintalling Windows. Well how? Is there a way that I can do that by not loosing any info on my Hard Drive? Also, in order to reinstall Windows, how can I get my cd-rw, (no drivers,"included with windows") to work out of DOS for reinstalling it. Thanks.

Windows 98 SE
DOS version 6.22

Boot with the w98 bootdisk. option boot with cd-rom support. then go to the cd and install.
Is it hooked up right? Check for latest drivers?

Do I lose any info already on my hard drive?

No you don't loose any info, all your doing is over installing windows on top of itself.
in relation to your CD-RW, have you tried running auto detect drives in your bios, this might solve the problem.

One thing I got tired of was having to reinstall windows every now and then and losing files. What I finally did was partition my hard drive and put windows in a partition and most software in another partition and my files in a different partition. Now windows can crash all it wants and if I have to reinstall it the worst I might have to do is install video drivers, sound drivers, etc. Oh yeah... and MS Office.
