On the topic of purchasing a new mobo what would be the best choice?

Is on board any good. I am not into all out gaming, however I am going to be getting into video editing soon.

I do not understand shared memory with the on board, maybe it would be fine.

there is $40 price difference between the AGP slot or the on board.

my instincts tell me to go with AGP slot!

Hi Jkac;
I would go with the AG (Advance graphic port)
Usually with the onboard audio, you do not have the ability to upgrade it.. like more memory. You did mention that you are not into gamming but someday I think you will wish you had the ability to to upgrade or enhance your video capabilities. You can get a nice video card for short money now a day's. Check out UBID.com... I saw a nice card there at auction for short money.
Good luck with your choice.

Besides ****ty (pardon my french http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif ) reputation of S3 Savage4, even the new o/b versions, buying mobo without possibility for upgrade is not very smart. Besides, having nice card with fast video memory helps in video editing, althought CPU is more important here. I'd suggest mobo with AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port), and something like GeForce2 MX/400 (about 90$ on Net).
