We got ourself into a pickle at Mrcs.

I tried to install Norton AV Corporate (CE) 7.0 on the NT4 machine. It rebooted but failed to load the Gui after login ,then started to reboot on the bootloader.

We're not good at doing backups (BAD BOYS>>>>SLAP SLAP)
I have the drive and need to restore the thing...any help would be kickass

Sal have you tried Nortons online support (http://servicenews.symantec.com/cgi-bin/browse.cgi?group=symantec.support.network.nortonan tivirus.corporateversion7&tpre=biz&product=nav&mini_version=nav7%2Dce&) ? I did not see anything there that would help. I will do some searching to see what I come up with.

I guess it is formatted to NTFS? I guess you have tried the obvious stuff too. Perhaps you could list some of the things you have tried?

Have you tried to install another drive and install NT4 so you can access the contents of other drive? What about an ERD? Is there any way of accessing the bootlog.txt file, at least that should tell you where it is rebooting?

I wish I could be of more help.

Have you tried booting the system with last known good configuration at the startup option?

SalaTar

NDC yes we tried that.
The next thing is to load another nt4 to access the files on the drive to see what went wrong http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

Easy, boot into dos, if NTFS use NTFS Pro, delete the NAVNT directory from program files, reboot and ignore the errors until you fix it.

BBA where can you get NTFS Pro? Never heard of it, will it fit on a floppy?

Well, I guess you found out where to get it http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

It works really well. I have used it many times on NT4 with problems with NAV going haywire...it's pretty common.

With the trial, you can read and copy files, but you can't write to NTFS, but with the Pro version, you can write just like in DOS.
