Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Just got a virus
After downloading a space screensaver from a swatch site. I had a virus alert, whilst unzipping, I purged the file, then scaned my system, seemed ok. The virus was PWSteal.Trojan virus. My anti virus program (norton)gave some info on it, stating it steals passwords and sends them back to the owner. Do I need to take any other precautions, A re scan shows a clean drive. I did have some quirky things going on with my system; that I thought were originally due to norton sys works, it turned out the screen saver was installed. Should I be going to Microsoft and checking for security upgrades? I'm running win98SE release2

i believe that is an AOL virus, actually. Biff, if you have AOL, i suggest getting a PWSdetector, it installs itself and adds a line to the win.ini. If you have a back up of that, check it.
