i just installed a hp 9100 burner and now all of my games run very very slow.

hi, i justt installed a new hp 9100 burner and now all of my games run slowly. it is not because of my video card, because my video card is an ATI radeon 32 meg ddr. when i go into any 3d accelerated games start up menu, the mouse moves very slow. i have changed my cd rom and burner to DMA, and have tried to do the same with my hard drives, but their is no option to do so in you system properties. my friend said that it might be because my atholon 750 is working over-time to compinsate for the new burner, because all drives must be set to DMA. is it because of a video/burner hardware confliction. i got these new set up drivers for my soyo mother board (SY-K7VIA)that forced switched everthin to DMA. this did not work. i took the burner out, and the problem remained, then i took out my 4.5 year old backup Fugistu hard drive and no effect. could it be something to reconfig in bios or cmos, and if so can some one tell me how to do this. thanx
