I have atguard installed on my pc and checked it with one of the internet sites that tests your security, and I was informed that my pc was in stelf mode. a buddy of mine tried the same site using blackice and was informed that all his ports were closed, so I tried his software on my pc and I also was informed that all my ports were closed. so whats up ? I thought black ice was the better software, then my atguard ,are my right or are my missing something.sorry for the spelling errors.

It shows them closed if BID is not working propoerly. If it is working properly then it works and you are in stealth mode. I have had my BID knocked out by 1- Win98 SE security patches (BID upgrade available to fix this) 2- Y2K testing software (just need to reinstall BID) If you haven't done either of these, go to www.netice.com (http://www.netice.com) and there is a great deal of help and info there. I love this program. I can't compare it directly b/c I have never used AtGuard. So...

Could be a cache or cookie problem-happened to me too. I cleared cache and started the test fresh from grc home page HERE (http://grc.com) and it then showed stealth status on ALL ports. Using ver 1.8.6.8 and W'98-IE5.0.

I see you are on cable..perhaps you are also the recipient of a proxy from your cable provider..if so..the scan was done on the proxy and not you..the proxy will give the results you noted..use the IP agent and do the test again..the agent will test your true IP...winipcfg will give you your real IP to check versus what the site says it is looking at..
