What kind of equipment would I need to convert my VCR tapes to cd's?
What would be minium requirements for a computer system?
I already have a CD-RW. Am think about building a new system with the following specs:
Epox MVP3G2 Motherboard
20G Hard drive
AMD K63/400
Don't have a good video Card yet (need suggestions)
Would this set up be sufficent to do this?
And would the sofware come with the video card and if not what would be a good one?
And finally would it be better to go to cd or DVD?
Thats all I can think of right now, if I have left any think out please fill in the blanks.

Thanks in advance for your replys and everyone have a Happy and Safe New Year.

Your system sounds like it would work fine. I would get a ATI all-in-wonder 32meg AGP video card. This card will allow you to capture video etc..About $200. I have a haugenpauge WInTv video capture card (PCI) and it does fine.$50.
However for the best video I would recomend getting a second hard drive for editing video with a large cache(2meg) and 7200RPM. Also make the partion for videos the first since it is the fastest. At least 128 meg of sdram.
I also have a K6 3-400 and it is fast enough with 32 megs of pc100 sdram and only a cheap 8meg AGP video card. Not the greatest video perfomance(the card)!
As for software I am useing Adobe Premier 5 now. The stuff that came with my card worked fine also.
As for DVD don't do it. To much money for a DVD burner!
I hope this helps. I am going to burn some video tapes to cds this weekend.
