Does anyone know of a program that will close programs that aren't in the task list that pops up when hitting Ctrl-Alt-Delete? I have a couple programs that are eating up my CPU cycles (again), and that's with nothing in the task list. I go into System Information, and there's still stuff there!

Thanks!

Double-posts happen occasionally. I know about msconfig, but will this work on Win95 computers like for Win98 computers? I want to be able to still run the program at startup, but disable it when I want the CPU cycles back (when burning a CD, for example) but don't want to reboot the computer.

Thanks!

msconfig still doesnt show everything that's running. apps, especially 16 bit, don't get released, nor releases memory in a timely fashion.

here is a nice app that you might find helpfull, it also has a kill function, if you want to adios an app.: http://www.teamcti.com/pview/prcview.htm

good luck

stylin, that's just the type of program I'm looking for. Thanks! I'll have to try it out and see what happens. Anyone know of any others out there like it?

I've got some UNIX-esque utilities installed like ps and kill for just that purpose. FYI, don't kill -9 the kernel, it doesn't like that.

Type HWINFO /UI in the run menu and it should show you all the apps you have running. Start/Run/then type HWINFO /UI
