you have to reenable the automatic setting for the swap file settings so windows will go back to its original settings. then reboot go to d and delete the swap file.What kind of outta mem errors are ya getting?what proggies do they show up in?how much ram do ya have?

I changed the virtual mem fole and added a swap file to my seconed hard drive as I was getting mem error. It did not work, but now I want to delete the swap file on seconed drive. How?? It does not permit me to do so. Can you help.

I don't think you can delete a file that is in use.

I have found that there are some files which may not be in use by windows but still it will not let you delete, oddly enough you may be able to rename the file and then delete it. Once I created a copy of windows "drivers" folder in another place on my drive - windows would not let me delete the folder. But I was able to rename it, and after a stern warning about changing the file's extension windows finally let me delete it.

There are times when you can delete the swap file through explorer. I've done it to some systems.
