i have a machine that is causing me fits. started to have problems playing a game. tried re-installing video drivers (game freezes at final play screen). new drivers did no good. also (and this is most CURIOUS)
when i go to display poperties, settings in the area above "colors" says tcp/ip on sis6326. i tried removing all sis drivers and reset to standard vga. the display properties then is correct. here are the steps i took (and still have the same problem)

1. boot to dos and ran scanreg /fix
2.boot in safe mode and removed all devices
(even mobo resources)and "other inf subdirectory"
3. let system find all devices again
4. installed sis6326 video drivers

system has 64 meg ram, 2 nics, cm8330 sound,
8 meg sis6326 onboard video

this is driving me nuts as it is wife's machine and it's her favorite game that wont play (super scatagories)

tnx JIM r.

Just to reply, you might try an older, or at least different driver if you can find one on the web. Usually Peter M. has good suggestions for Sis-chip problems/drivers.

already tried that 9settled on the driver i KNOW worked. funny thig is as i removed items from network properties the "display" changes.
it has said all of the following at various reboots

file and print sharing on sis6326
tcp/ip on sis6326
ndis3pkt3 on sis6236

line should read pnp monitor on sis6326

it always points to some network component.

also ran anti-virus and trojan with latest definitions to no avail

thanks again
