Hi,

system: athlon 800, abit kt7 raid, geforce 2MX, 256MB ram, sb pci 128 value, 30 GB harddisk connected to raid controller, SCSI card, 33.6 ISA modem USR.

problem: when the CPU is not under load, the sound is totally distorted, with screeching and other weird noises. I have installed the latest drivers from w2k update page, but not helped.

What can i do to get good sound? All drivers for all my hardware is the latest, and mobo bios is the newest available.

Prior to win2000 I used w98SE and the soundcard worked perfectly. I therefore assume its w2k problem.

Check in SB settings if the output mode set to "Analog", don't leave it at "AutoSense"

SCSI or modem could also be a problem, try removing each one of them to see if the problem remains ...

Best Regards ...

ND,

I tried that suggestion but no joy i'm afraid.

I think this is a more general windows2000 & mobo conflict. see the discussion at http://www.europe.creative.com/joinin/forums/thread.asp?thre=7119

it is affecting more people than just me, and nobody can solve this problem. Even pauls unofficial KT7 FAQ has no solution.

Anyone here actually got a working SB card in their w2k machine ?
