Bad modem problems!!!!

I just installed 98 SE on my new system, but it refuses to recognize the drivers for my modem. It tells me that the specified driver is not written for this device(or somethin like that). The only thing I can do is install the standerd 56000 v.90 modem driver. If I install the true drivers it tells me that it gets no responce from the modem when I try to connect. My modem is a viking components ext 56k v.90. Is this just a problem with 98 SE because it works flawlessly with 98 first edition. I NEED HELP!!!!!

Try clearing all modems in system device manager and start over.

Maybe change pci slots?
