New system specs:
Epox EP-8K7A (not the + board)
T-bird 1g 266fsb
256mb Crucial PC2100
GeForce 3
Maxtor 30 Gig 7200rpm ATA100
Maxtor 40 Gig 7200rpm ATA100
Creative DVD
I/O Magic 52x CD-Rom
Creative Soundblaster X-Gamer 5.1
Net card

Problem card:
Siig UltraATA 100 PCI

The problem I'm having is when I have the I/O Magic CD-Rom (Have also tried a Delta CD-Rom) connected to the controller card, any data cd I insert into the cdrom is found as an audio cd. Track1.cda

It has no problems when the DVD player is connected to it. The DVD works fine.

Tried moving the hard drives to the controller card and the cdroms to the boards IDE2. The computer would only boot up as far as the windows logo screen, the blue bar at the bottom still in motion.

Changed my bios settings to everything possible. Nothing worked. Tried booting as a scsi, nope. Tried the scsi with the other boot options on disabled. Tried all the hdd settings. This drove me nuts. I have 2 days left before I'm not able to return this card.

I need lots of help here, please. With sugar on top. I'll email you a cherry too.lol

ANY suggestion is GREATLY appreciated.
I would like to get this system fully operational.

Only reason for the controller card is that the EP-8K7A does not have the raid controller. The EP-8K7A+ does.

Don't know if this will help, but I am using the same controller card. I had the same problem when hooking up CDRW to the controller card, so I decided not to. I only hooked up my Harddrive to the Siig controller card and when my computer boots up, it will auto-detect without me changing the boot-up sequence in bios. My question to you is since you have 2 ATA100 HD, how did you hook those up relative to your CD and DVD drives?
Have you tried to hook up only the harddrive to see if it will boot? and slowly add your components until it doesn't? Just my opinion and hope it helps.

Thanks for your reply. I've tried the boot hard drive on the controller card IDE1 and my cdrom was on the motherboards IDE2. This still would not work. This card is supposed to work with cdroms, maybe it doesn't like ATAPI cdroms. May have to go back to CompUSA and exchange the cdrom, but I figured this one would work.

If this motherboard had an ISA slot, I'd put in my old Promise card. That worked for hard drives and cd-roms.

Alrighty, I have finally got this thing working.

My fix: I used the 40 pin/80 wire EIDE cable (ATA66 / 100), on a cdrom. Go figure.
But it all works now.

um...
Strange... just when I thought most CD-ROMs are UDMA 33 only... it takes a ATA66/100 cable to make it work on the controller...
