Magnolia 05-30-2001, 12:14 AM I have a HP Pavillion 9686C, Athlon 700, Win 98 2ed, DVD, CDRW with a FDD that chatters for 30-40 seconds on every start up. So far I have done the following-- cleaned, reinstalled NEC drivers, installed alternative drivers, replaced FDD cable, replaced THE FDD, reset and reviewed bios settings (put FDD last in boot order), removed antivirus, inspected start up files. Turned OFF "detect new floppy drive "in Windows, Updated video and chipset drivers. If it's not the FDD, cable or driver does anyone out there have an idea what might cause this 30 to 40 seconds of chatter on EVERY start up. Thanks in advance! -M. SysOpt.com
