I recently found this web site about the life and accomplishments of Nikola Tesla. I was very interested to find out a coupleof things about him, Thomas Edison, and the Smithsonian Institute.
If you have a few minutes, please check this out. I find most people I've talked to on this bbs to be intelligent and curious. If you fit into this genre, check this out.
Very interesting.....

Hmmm...I was all happy on the subject until now!
I was most disturbed in that I thought Edison was a "good guy" only to find he killed, by elecution, helpless horses dogs and puppies to demonstrate a point he was 100% wrong about and he knew it!
I am now sympathetic to the Tesla cause!

I thought that name was familar. I leaned about him years ago. I think it was while studying the theory of electricity.

Alright! Another convert. Just 250 million more to go. (heavy sigh)
I learned some time ago of the greatness of Tesla and the injustice done to his history. I think it is one of the most heinous examples of how history has been written & prepared instead of being recorded & documented as it should be.
I think all of us, as Americans, should be ashamed for allowing this historical travesty to continue to this very day. Not only do our history books fail to even mention Tesla but often they substitute his nemisis, Edison, where Tesla's name has earned the right to be.
I used to be quite a Tesla advocate, but the fight has faded over the years. And shame on me for allowing it to fade. But it's back now! And I'm fired up again! Screw Edison!
We _ALL_ owe a great debt to Nikola Tesla. The least we can do is give him his rightful place in our history books. And if we must boot Edison out of a few places in history to make room for Tesla...then so be it.

Don't worry, you are not the only one and it is not your fault. Even in his own country Tesla is an instrument of the political fight between Croats and Serbs. Tesla - Serbian (father Orthodox priest) born in a part of today's Croatia ruled then by Austro-Hungarians (last century) is mostly ignored (in Croatia) only because his origin and his house of birth was demolished in the last war just because he was not a part of the local nationality majority.

The 80's rock band Tesla was actually named after him and the band was into promoting the truth about his life. My roomates brother is law was the lead singer in the band.

i remember that tesla thread on sysopt. Tesla was a genius, but also a complete nut ball. then again, so was Newton.

Hey Bulb, I got an email from Mr. Wagner (of that Tesla site), check it out...
You can tell the fellow whose roommate's brother was the lead singer in
the TESLA rock band that I taught the band all they knew about Nikola Tesla. The band even came to my classroom in 1989
and gave my students a ride on their tour bus. The drummer (Troy Lucketta) and a guitar player (Frank Hannon) paid for our first
bust of Tesla out of their own pockets. This was the bust we donated to the University of Michigan. If you would like some
photographs I could give you some JPEGs of that gala event to verify all that I have said.
