I'm getting ready to purchase a AMD Athlon system and have found that Cybermax seems to use good components at a reasonable price. Wondered if any of you out there have dealt with this company? I spoke to them today and they said the system would ship in 3-4 weeks. Any success stories with Cybermax?

Thanx for your responses!!!

I bought a AMD K7 500 Athlon from Cybermax a few months ago before they where selling them. I recieved it just about when i should've, after a month or so. Nice people on the phone, helpful, I thought the prices where great. And I havent needed to try out the techsupport, so I dont know about that.

I made the mistake of buying from Cybermax, do yourself a favor, spend the extra $300 and buy a Dell or Gateway. That $300 will get you quality parts and descent tech support that you might actually be be able to reach. Every company has unhappy customers but, if you research this company more than I did you will find more negatives than possitives.

The only problem I can remember seeing was the modem. I know they haved used Software modems in the past, If i remember right it was from the Moterola SM56 Chipset.

To make a long story short, Make sure you get a pure hardware modem. Get The details on it 1st and double check on it your self. Alot of people don't know the difference between Software (win) and hardware modems.

As far as modems go, You get what you pay for, and you can get an Sm56 modem for $11.

In Aug I almost bought a Athlon from Cybermax, then saw $90.00 shipping and $63.00 tax. No thanks, Office Depot now has a Compac Athlon for $1200. VA.com also a IBM Athlon same price. VA.com has $35.00 s/h and no tax..
