When I open an .mpg or .mpeg file, video area is green or displays random pink and green flashes. I also tried playing a VCD with it (mpeg format) and it has the same problem. However, when I open an .mov file with media player, it plays perfectly fine.
I've tried to reinstall the player by deleting and installing back into its folder - C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player. The same problems come up.
I have found the corresponding Microsoft Knowledge Base Article to this problem, but it is apparently a solution for an older version of the player. I don't see Properties for this player at anywhere. Also, if it were a video problem, then why would it work for .mov files and not .mpg/.mpeg files?
Oh one more thing - there is no selection to uninstall Windows Media Player 6.4 in Add/Remove Programs. I recall it being there in the past, but it wasn't there when I tried to do the uninstall/install... so I had to delete the folder itself. Even a WindowsUpdate install of version 6.4 has the same problem.
Has anything like this happened to you? Workarounds? THanks for the help!
