The story of humanity is, in fact, comprised of countless millions of stories, one for each human alive. Those who most clearly understand old humanity will become the historians, the philosophers of the new age.

In the new age, the average citizen will have to struggle to comprehend the state of affairs, prior to the change. It will seem ludicrous that it took so long for the shift to take place. The longing for such a change has been building for centuries, perhaps as far back as the Renaissance. Throughout recorded history, we have used our ingenuity to perpetuate systems that promote inequality. It will one day be noted that the technological explosion of the twentieth century both eased the pressure for change, and accelerated it, that rampant consumerism both distracts people from principle and illuminates the disparity between our cherished ideals and the performance of our many institutions. When the schism becomes so gross that it can no longer be ignored, change will occur.

The greatest challenge will be for the spiritual thinkers of both ages. As the reality emerges that fundamental change involves a change of consciousness, the human species will take a giant step. We will still possess all of the mystery, wonder, and potential of being human, for the spirit of the old and new humans remains the same. The new will evolve from the folly that had previously been labeled sin, giving those thinkers who struggle to define spirit a new task.

As with any fantasy it will be easy for many to simply dismiss this 'what if' tale as too ridiculous to consider. Others may ponder it, but most will remain skeptical that such a thing could happen. In the realm of thinking, however, anything is possible. Potential is unlimited. Humans have consistently demonstrated a vast capability for creation. Thus it is with this fantasy, for given enough of us thinking the 'new' way, the 'old' way of thinking will simply fall away, and humanity will be free to embark upon an era of unbridled possibility. http://www.isso.org/issoclient/frameset.asp
