I have an old deskpro 2000, which for something to do , thought I would upgrade the memory from 16M to 48 by adding two 16M strips of 72 pin edo. Inside the cover it states that memory should be installed in pairs ie ab & cd. Thus installed, m/c on, recognises instalation and counts extra memory, gives option to update bios to new mem figure ie F1 or F2. opt to update. Screen blanks and starts to load windows98 se. All seems to be going fine until fatal exception blue screen, or windows hangs.
How do I cure the problem?
Surely this M/C will run more than 16M?
What M/B is fitted?
Is there a bios upgrade available?
As I have no manual for this machine or know its history, other than it works perfectly until I try to increase its memory content, where do I go from here.
