cloning hard drives?

IF i wanted to uprgade to a new hard drive is there a program or something out there that lets me clone my os (win98) onto the other drive, then i can take the old one out and BAM new hard drive. any suggestions?

Both Maxtor and WD have started to include "imaging" software with their drives. If you are looking just for the software the 2 main one's I would personally suggest are

DriveCopy by Powerquest
Ghost by Norton

Ok, you want to clone WIN98. I have no experience with 98 but NT. Norton Ghost works fine with NT, and there is no reason not to use it with WIN98. There are some SID problems with version 6 (ghosting NT) and could be resolved by using walker (part of the package)

You may want to look at the reference book "Upgrading and Repairing PCs", by Scott Mueller (11th Ed., published by Que).

It comes with a CD which includes PowerQuest Drive Image 4, Partition Magic 4, and some other neat stuff, not to mention you get a good reference book.

I used Drive Image to image my new hdd and it works great.

thanks guys. Is norton Ghost a stand alone product? or does it come wit the whole slew of norton stuff...the reason I ask is because I think my father ought the norton antivirus stuff atonetime but took it off.

When I bought my new mobo It came with Norton Ghost, antivirus and vitrual drive program.I thought is was a good deal. I have two of the disk because the first mobo was bad.
I have used Drive Image,Partion Magic and the Maxtor drive copy progam. And all worked well. I like drive image the best though.
