i have recently upgraded my computer, new mother board, processor and sound card. the problem is that my floppy drive is not responding. the active light on the drive is constantly on and the system page says that it is working properly. i have tried two floppy drives and two cables but still no joy. the cables are the correct way round and i know that the drives work. please do not tell me that the mother board is knackard, well do if it is, but id prefere annother option, ta, matt.

IF you are POSITIVE that you have the cables connected correctly then yes you have a screwed up motherboard. BUT I would suggest taking the end that is connected to the floppy and turn it "upside down" and the light will probably go out and it will work correctly

Yep, been there, done that. some floppy drives have the ribbon connected with the red trace next to the power port, and some the other way around. This exactly what you do see when the ribbon cable is turned over.
