It's a long story, but it involves powerstrip, 1600x1200, and my inability to see anything when I boot into win98. Can I switch my resolution by editing any ini file through DOS or something?
Or can I do it through safemode, then editing the registry? If so, where is the registry entry? please I need the answer ASAP!!!

if you want to get your display back, boot to safe mode and remove your display adapter and then restart. windows will reload the drivers and prompt you to restart, after which you'll be back in business.

yep, i got a ctx vl950 19" monitor and creative labs TNT2Ultra. The monitor supports 1600x1200 @ 75hz. it works, except when i started messing with PowerStrip... it seems that I have to load Powerstrip EVERY time I want to use some sort DirectX/openGL function... SubSpace (1600x1200), quake3, Broodwar, etc. I think the reason was attributed to the installation of DX7 and messing with some settings in powerstrip.
Anyway, I figured it out.. I rebooted to safe mode, went to my registry, and manually edited my resolution back to 1280x1024.

Also a quicker way is just to boot into safe mode and then drop the resolution down to like 640x480 or 800x600. No need to remove anything from device manager or change any other settings.

First of all... do your monitor supports 1600x1200? If it doesn't then there is no way to force the monitor to go all the way up there, since you will not have a refresh rate that the monitor can handle for such high resoltuion. This is a hardware limitation, so no work around.
If you do then just start windows in sfae-mode and select "Plug-n-Pray" or "Standard VGA 1600x1200".

monitor...download the inf file for your monitor from the manufacturer. downloading the specific monitor 'drive' will make it possible for you to use 1600x1200 resolution.
