I have an Abit BX6 that just quit working. All it does now when powered up is beep. There is now beep sequence to count, it's just a continous 'high then low' beep, almost like a police siren wuold be.

I treid a different power supply, different CPU, different ram, removed all cards, and don't know what else to try.

Any suggestions?

Remove the battery for a few seconds and reinstall it. Try rebooting. Sometimes the BIOS gets hosed and resetting it clears things up. You'll probably have to go into the BIOS (assuming it boots) and set the date after reinstalling the battery.

I was hoping that removing the battery would do the trick, since it's something I haven't yet tried, but no go. Still beeping. I wonder if the motherboard died?

Even with no video card or hard drive, it should still boot up, right? (even though I couldn't tell)

My next step would have been to reseat the CPU and RAM, but you said you changed them out already and still only get beeps. Hate to say it, but your mobo may be toast.

A follow up to removing the battery... in order for that to work you need to make sure the power cord is not plugged in at all, also, usually you need to take the battery out for a good 30 seconds to a minute to actually clear the board. What I would do is pop the battery, reseat everything and take out all the cards (including the video card). Put the battery in and plug it up, push the button (still with no video card). Wait twenty seconds then power off and put all your cards (including video) back in the computer and turn it on.

This will not only clear the board, but also the AGP slot which I have found can cause trouble when the battery is removed.

Hope that works.

Dave

Thanks for all the tip, but I guess the motherboard has died. I tried everything that was mentioned plus some, but still beeping

Did you consider the cpu alarm? It might be set to warn you at a certain temp

The high-low siren type thing in Abit boards is the CPU Temp alarm. Check along those lines, I doubt it's dead, but there's something up in there. I dont understand why you don't just use the Clear CMOS jumper on the board? My BF6 (BX6's lil brother) sometimes will act funny, take off any thermistors connected and definitely reseat your CPU checking the heatsink is still making contact with the CPU, check the fans and make sure everything is spinning.
