Greetings!
I'm still on my search for the perfect system/price/support package, and I've learned that $hipping charge$ are a big factor, especially when you add in the potential cost of returning a lemon. Buying locally is one solution, but not necessarily the most cost effective.
Which begs the question: what are the chances that I might have to return a unit for repair? I'd like to see some hard numbers on how many returns were made for the various resellers. (Not just some vague statement like "your chances are pretty good..." ;})
For instance, Consumer Reports says that the chance of a defective unit is the highest with direct mail vendors. HOW DO THEY KNOW THAT? If I can't get numbers on individual companies, I'd at least like to see stats on the various kinds of system sellers (direct mail, electronics store, department store, etc.).
I've been known to place a wager or two in Las Vegas. I'm willing to take a gamble, but not without any hard data to crunch!!
Any leads?
Thanx,
Rick
