Slightly ambigious question but?

Just aquired a dual celeron system, ( 400 meg ), with 256meg ram and matrox video ( single ).

What is the best O/s I can install on this?

This is a loaded question,,,, Cause I looking to be educated! I've got ( am posting using it ) Win98 installed. Is win98se dual processor compatible, or should I load win2000?

Next silly question, if I have to load win 2000, how do I bring across my address book, sent and received mail etc??? from outlook?

Thanks for any help.

All the best, Justy.

No Win9x is not SMP enabled. Win2K is... Install Win2K.

As for Outlook.... export your address book and inbox through the export menu... Save it to a file and when you re-install your computer import them back in to outlook.

Its that easy.... email me if you need a tutorial.

Spoke indirectly with Sixpac,

and the advise I got was to backup all *.pst and all *.pab files.

Currently doing that and thanks to Sixpac for the help.

Jak,

Sorry buddy, you're talking to an idiot here, when it comes to anything above win 3.1.

What is BEOS, is it GUI? is it easy to use? does it have drivers for most equipment? does it need drivers? does it support generic equipment?

May sound like I'm being a smart AR$E, I'm not, I'm just not familiar with that O/S.

All the best, Justy.

P.S. Thanks for the alternative. You've got less than 20 mins to answer, after that, I'm going with Sixpacs recomendation of installing W2000. Its easy and I've got the CD!

P.P.S. My main concern is saving my address book, and sent and recieved mail in outlook. If I could find the directory or file this was in, I'd be laughing!

Immediate Help Please!!!

Thanks, Justy

Jak,

Thanks for the reply, this is a dual celly with a 115k connection, as I said before, if I didn't I meant to. It's performing like a P90 with a 14k connection!!!

I can only attribute it to the O/S. The hardware is grand. I'll check out the sites you mentioned. Any ideas where the outlook files are stored???

I know I'm dragging this out, but I really can't afford to lose my mail!

Thanks, Justy.

Thanks Cadd,

But unless I'm wrong ( hence the post ), not every O/S supports dual CPU?

I'm kinda, sold on the 2000 idea, but I still need to know how to backup my old outlook???

More help, sorry guys.

All the best, Justy.
