system not detecting cd drive

i had installed Win-me , earlier my system was detecting cd-drive.but when i installed it, it was not showing cd-drive in my computer.after that when i booted the system with startup of win-me , then too is didn't detect cd-drive. what can be the possibel reason.
my cd-drive and hard drive are connected with single cable to the mohter board.i have tried by chaging the sequence of both , but all in vain

Try TweakUi , tick all the boxes in the My Computor section of TweakUi . You will gain an extra benefit also , in that you will now have extra features , when you right click on Start .
Make sure there are not any conflicts in Device Manager . John .
