I have a PII & recently f/disked. I have no manuals for the motherboard & am finding it difficult to ID it. Resolution at present is 16bit & need to increase. Please help me ID the motherboard so I can download the latest drivers.

Have you tried down-loading and trying Si-Soft Sandra and running the Motherboard module?

It might help knowing the make of the computer since some companies mask the MoBo identity (ie. IBM).

Si-Soft Sandra can be down-loaded here:

Try this - it may help you.

As soon as you switch on the PC (on the black screen) you get the bios details and at the bottom of the screen you get a string, something like this:

mm/dd/yyyy-xxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

the last 12 figures is a mixture of numbers & letters. Take note of it.

Go to http://www.ping.be/bios/ and with a little bit of work you'll be able to identify the manufacturer, model and PCB version of your motherboard.

Hope that helps.
